LATELY
Last week we made a quick jaunt back to Nashville to see family and take care of some biz. We saw the fam, we took care of the biz, and then we skedaddled back to the cabin. On the way north we broke up the drive at about the NY state line, stopping at a motel on Lake Erie, then doing a wee bit of exploration along Route 5 as we headed east. Coffee was procured in Westfield, NY—a charming little town that is particularly (some might say peculiarly) proud of being the home of the girl who wrote to future president Abraham Lincoln to suggest that he grow out his beard.

OLD DEMO ALERT
A couple weeks ago, Kieran woke up with a tidbit of an old song of his in his head, and wanted to hear the demo to remember how it went. So we dug it up. I couldn’t stop smiling when I heard it, so I thought you might enjoy it too. The song itself is funny and conversational and engaging, but the sound quality and vibe of the demo recording is a big part of the delightfulness. To me it sounds like a track from some lost 1970s LP. (In fact it was just KK overdubbing all the parts, circa 1990.)
Here it is:
FOLK GOLF REPORT
I gotta admit: earlier in the spring, I was discouraged about golf. After taking the winter off it seemed I no longer knew how to swing a club. (Meanwhile, KK was striking the ball like a pro.) But since we came north and returned to our summertime golf routines I’ve found my groove again, and we’re back to our usual well-matched rounds. I’m still carrying the same clubs that I’ve been using for a while—a 7 hybrid, a 9 iron, and a putter. Kieran is carrying a 7 iron, a pitching wedge, and a putter. (If you’re extra curious about our clubs, we’ve updated our Folk Golf blog with all the deets!)
Golf is, of course, a very cyclical undertaking, with lots of ups and downs and puzzles to solve. Yet we do seem to be getting better, and never cease to be amused by how frequently we hit nearly identical shots. Most importantly, we continue to be very confident that we’re having more fun than anyone else on the course.
STAY TUNED
That’s it for now!

Speaking of golf, have you seen the TV series “Stick” on Apple? Golf is a central theme and it’s an entertaining series you might enjoy.
LOVE the song! Very funny.
