new date in maine / kk talks bobby osborne / lazy rage-birds / scary creek
Lately
We had the sweetest evening at Caffe Lena last week. We truly couldn’t have asked for a softer place to land for our first show in a very long time. The staff and volunteers there are kind and welcoming, the audience was generous, and wonderful sound tech Joe Deuel made us feel like we were playing in our living room. We’re so grateful.
Having successfully survived our return to the stage, we’re even more excited for our next gig: August 5th at the Tompkins Corners Cultural Center in Putnam Valley, NY. Click here for all the info.
And… we’ve just added a new date in Maine! September 10th at the Hackmatack Playhouse in Berwick. Details TBA. (Follow us on Bandsintown to get the info as soon as its out.)
Remembering
We were sad to learn of Bobby Osborne’s passing a couple weeks ago. Kieran wanted to share his story of meeting the great man in the mid-1960s—and a thrilling full-circle occurrence many years after that meeting.
Wildlife Report
Spotted since our last report: a turtle laying eggs; about a zillion teeny mergansers fizzing all around (and on top of) their mom out on the lake; awkward teenage geese wandering in the road; floofy little wild turkeys; plenty of very healthy looking deer.
We’ve recently upgraded our hummingbird feeder. They now have little perches to sit on while they sip. Is it bad to encourage such sedentary behavior? Anyway, being able to relax while they feed hasn’t changed anything about their violently antisocial behavior with each other. What adorably rage-filled little birds. We love ‘em.
Weather Report
We’ve gotten LOTS of rain in the past week, including an enormous downpour on Friday that washed out some roads in the area. Soon after, we stopped by our favorite local creek—normally a picturesque and dreamy spot—to check how high the water had gotten. Here’s a video of what we saw, which cannot capture just how scary it was.

PS: Our online shop is open, and we’re still sending out cute li’l KKRG stickers with all CD orders.
I would recommend "The 100-Year Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared" by Jonas Jonasson. Very clever, dense book.
As to our recent TV, "Penguin Bloom" (Netflix) and "The Peanut Butter Falcon" (Prime) are excellent.
I've been reading a lot of Octavia Butler lately including a short story collection called Blood Child. Rick Rubin's book on creativity is most excellent as well.
